Bhubaneswar: The body of an 11-year-old, who went missing on April 15, was recovered from a septic tank in his home in Ratanpur village under Delanga police station area in Puri district, on Monday.

As per reports, the victim Ashirbad Sahoo’s uncle was taken into custody and interrogated in connection with the murder, but he was initially released. However, the police kept a close watch on him and rearrested him on Sunday night from a dhaba in Tangi Chandpur.

During further interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, and the police recovered Ashirbad’s body from the septic tank of his house in Ratanpur village.

The police suspect that the murder might be a result of a previous enmity, but they have not confirmed anything yet. The investigation is ongoing to uncover the truth, and the police are trying to extract more information from the accused uncle, said sources.

The police have not released any official statement yet, but the case is being investigated further to determine the motive behind the murder.

Notably, the boy was last seen playing near his house on April 16, and his family members had no information about his whereabouts since then. His family members had filed a complaint with the Delang police in this regard.
