Bhubaneswar: The accused in the 11-year-old minor boy’s murder case confessed to the crime that took place at Ratanpur village under the Delang police station area.
As per reports, Asribad Sahoo’s body was recovered from a septic tank in Ratanpur village. He had gone missing five days ago.
The police had deployed sniffer dogs to track down the culprit, which repeatedly led them to the victim’s uncle Bapi Sahoo’s house, raising suspicion. During interrogation, Sahoo allegedly confessed to the crime, revealing the gruesome details of the murder.
Puri Superintendent of Police stated that the Delang police had registered a case and formed multiple teams to apprehend the accused. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused, Bapi, had a long-standing dispute with the victim’s father, which led him to commit the heinous crime against his 11-year-old nephew.
The police investigation also revealed that the accused had carefully planned and executed the crime, disposing of the body in the septic tank to avoid detection.
Meanwhile, the post-mortem report is awaited to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Earlier, Bapi was taken into custody and interrogated in connection with the murder, but he was initially released. However, the police kept a close watch on him and arrested him again on Sunday night from a dhaba in Tangi Chandpur.
The villagers, upon learning about the recovery of the boy’s body and the arrest of the accused, became enraged and vandalised Bapi Sahu’s house.
