Puri: The first meeting of the Justice Raghubir Dash Commission of Inquiry, which will be probing the disappearance of Ratna Bhandar key of Puri Srimandir, was held today at the Circuit House here.

As per reports, the meeting took place where officials of the Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) and district administration were present. A brief discussion was held on the existing legal provisions for safekeeping of treasury key of the 12th century shrine.

The second meeting of the Commission of Inquiry has been scheduled on August 7 at Cuttack.

Besides, persons or organisations who have submitted affidavits were asked to be present before the Commission. Nobody but one was present who presented his affidavit and left early, before the meeting concluded.

Justice Raghubir Dash informed, “The district administration has sought time to submit its affidavit comprising all the information for which they have been asked to submit it duly. After the 2nd meeting on Aug 7, further course of action will be decided by the Commission”.

“The affidavit we have does not have much information for which we are waiting for more affidavits to come in the next session”, he added.

Notably, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) had earlier stated that the Commission of Inquiry would submit report within three months of its appointment. Last month, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had ordered a judicial probe into the missing of the key.

Apart from this, a public interest litigation (PIL) has also been filed in the Orissa High Court seeking CBI probe into missing of the key. The State Government, Centre, CBI and the RBI have been made parties in the PIL.
