Bhubaneswar: The body of a taxi driver was recovered on the Chandaka–Barang Road on Saturday, days after he was reported missing.
The deceased taxi driver has been identified as Vidyadhar Sahu, a resident of Sishupalgarh.
According to sources, Vidyadhar was reportedly missing since September 15. His family filed a complaint on September 19, after receiving a ransom call demanding a staggering Rs 2 crore.
Police began investigation after locals spotted Vidyadhar’s abandoned taxi parked by the roadside. Upon further search, they found his body lying beyond the guard wall. Badagada police informed the family, who later identified the deceased.
A towel was tied around Vidyadhar’s neck, suggesting possible strangulation. An umbrella, a liquor bottle, and a wallet have been seized from the scene. Police have launched a detailed probe into the case and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding Vidyadhar’s abduction and murder.
