Bargarh: The body of a young man who went missing after drowning near the Anga River bridge close to Bheluapadar in Gaisilet block was recovered on Wednesday, nearly twenty hours after the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Niroj Barik, a resident of Mundagaon Duduka village in the district.
According to reports, Niroj had gone missing on Tuesday after reportedly jumping into the Anga River near the bridge area.
Following the incident, Fire department personnel from Padampur and Gaisilet were immediately deployed to carry out search and rescue operations. Despite continuous efforts for around 20 hours, the youth could not be traced, leaving villagers anxious.
Upon receiving instructions from the Sambalpur head office, an additional team from Agalpur Fire Station arrived at the site and resumed the search. Within just fifteen minutes of starting the operation, the team successfully located and recovered the body.
The body was later handed over to Gaisilet police for further investigation and necessary formalities. The tragic incident has cast a pall of gloom over the local community.
