Angul: The Jharpada police on Sunday recovered a charred body from an old stone quarry on Ghodadia Narharipur road near Badalo village panchayat under Motanga police limits.
According to the police, a young man named Bikas Behera (23), son of Arun Behera of Korda village under Jarapada police limits in Angul district, went missing on November 26 while he was an accused in a case registered at the Jarapada police station.
Following an investigation, Jharpada police found that the accused was beaten up and thrown into a pond in the Motanga police station area.
Meanwhile, Jharpada police arrested on accused Sanjil Pradhan, a resident of Jambujodi village under Kaniha police limits, and seized a motorbike. Another accused is said to be absconding.
After interrogating the arrested accused, Jharpada police searched the Ghodadiya area for the last two days and recovered Bikas’ body from an old mine on Sunday afternoon.
The reason why Bikas was killed is yet to be ascertained. The police are investigating the case further.
