Bhubaneswar: Concrete leads provided by whistleblowers and victims of corruption are helping Vigilance officials in a big way to check graft, Director Vigilance, YK Jethwa said. Addressing a press meet on the sidelines of Additional SP Communication Trinath Mishra’s arrest, Jethwa said
A considerable amount of Vigilance work is based on two forms of tip-offs – pre and post-bribery. Pre-bribery feedback is helping us in laying traps and nabbing those who are demanding and accepting bribes. The other form of feedback is assisting us in targeting corrupt officials who have amassed ill-gotten wealth.
“We source information from ‘Mo Sarkar’ database on random feedback over bribery and harassment at Government offices. This data is helping us in identifying hotspots of Corruption, in terms of individuals and institutions, and enabling more focused targeting,” Jethwa added.
On being asked about the strategy of Odisha Vigilance, the Director said, so far Odisha Vigilance has registered 31 cases under the PC (Amendment) Act in 2022. In these, as many as 23 Government servants have been arrested including 4 Class I officers.
“Incoming days we are committed to intensifying our actions further. Equipped with the Mo Sarkar feedback, data mining tools over Mo Sarkar data, and utilising digital footprints generated in financial transactions, we will check corruption further,” said Jethwa.
