Bhubaneswar: Rubbishing allegations of non-functionality of the recently launched mobile app "SAHAYATA” for availing police services, Odisha State Crime Record Bureau (SCRB) Director averred that it is appropriately working and the citizens can dowload it from the Google Play Store and avail the services offered.

Talking to OMMCOM NEWS, Odisha State Crime Record Bureau (SCRB) Director Sudhansu Sarangi said, “The app is functioning. Kindly go to Google play store and type SAHAYATA and you can download the app. After downloading it, the various police services we are providing through it can be availed by common citizens.”

“The complaint against its non-functional is totally false. The complainants, who ever are lodging their complaints through it are being routed to the police station concerned and the police station is initiating action on it. Uptill now, 12 lakh people have accessed this Odisha Citizen Portal while 98,000 people have been registered. We have already catered to 2.36 lakh people,” he claimed.

He also added, “Out of the 17 services on the website, 13 services are being provided to the people. The four services were added this month. That will be added into the app in due course.”

In this context, he explained, “Any computer application (app) is continuously upgraded. In next month, more 5-10 service will be added. The number is not fixed.”

“The services that are being availed most by the people through this system are ‘employee verification’, ‘tenant verification’, ‘conduct certificate’. People are availing these services. We’re mulling to provide some more new services. On monthly basis, we will be upgrading that and see that whatever services people need to avail from the police are made available to them in future,” the SCRB Director assured.

Notably on March 15 during the 3-day-long 60th Senior Police Officers’ Conference valedictory session, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik released a book "Crime in Odisha – 2016" as well as inaugurated the Mobile App "SAHAYATA" on this occasion.

The State Crime Record Bureau (SCRB) has prepared the book as well as developed this Mobile App for the benefit of common citizens.
