Bhubaneswar: In a bid to make the vote-counting process smooth, Odisha Police ADG (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar has asked the concerned officials overseeing the process not to carry mobile phones to counting centres.
Talking to mediapersons at a presser, ADG Sanjay Kumar said, “Only authorised persons will be allowed to enter the counting centres. Unauthorised persons cannot make entry into the counting centres. Most importantly, counting stations will be kept free from mobile phones to avoid misuse of phones during vote counting.”
It is pertinent to note that the counting of votes for 21 Parliamentary and 147 Assembly constituencies will take place tomorrow. There will be a three-tier security arrangement at the counting centres. While the CAPF will be in charge of the inner layer of security, the Special Armed Police of Odisha will be in charge of the second layer of security and the district police will ensure the third layer of security.
Briefing the mediapersons, Kumar said special arrangements have been made for journalists to cover the counting.
He continued: “CCTV cameras have been installed at the counting centres for round-the-clock surveillance. That apart, power back-up facility will be in place for the convenience of authorised officials.”
