Bhubaneswar: As many as ten Odisha districts are likely to witness moderate thunderstorms with lightning and rain in the next three hours, according to the India Meteorological Department. These districts have been issued orange alerts.
According to the a nowcast warning issued by the IMD at 4:25pm, Balangir, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangapur, Nuapada, and Rayagada districts are expected to experience wind speeds of 30-40 kmph, gusting to 50 kmph. The warning will remain active till 7:25pm.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay indoors and keep track of the latest weather updates. The IMD has also cautioned against potential disruptions, including waterlogging and damage to vulnerable infrastructure.
Citizens are advised to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety, including staying indoors during thunderstorms and avoiding travel during heavy rainfall.
