Bhubaneswar: Minutes after being chosen as the BJP’s pick for the next CM of Odisha, Keonjhar MLA Mohan Majhi and a team of senior BJP leaders including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met Governor Raghubar Das at the Raj Bhavan and staked claim for the formation of the government.
The BJP team comprising Rajnath Singh, Dharmendra Pradhan, Aswini Vaishnaw, Jual Oram, State BJP president Manmohan Samal accompanied Majhi to the Raj Bhawan.
Majhi gave the list of 78 BJP MLAs to the Governor and the letters of support from three other independent MLAs.
Majhi, along with his council of ministers, are scheduled to take oath at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar at 4.45 PM on Wednesday.
Majhi was elected as the legislature party leader at the meeting at BJP State office in Bhubaneswar in the presence of Rajnath Singh and Bhupendra Singh as observers.
The 53-year-old Majhi, a four-time MLA from Keonjhar Assembly seat, held the post of Opposition chief whip in the last Assembly.
