Bhubaneswar: The Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) today suspended Barabati-Cuttack MLA Mohd. Moquim and ex- MLA Chiranjib Biswal from the Congress party with immediate effect for indulging in anti-party activities.
According to a press release issued by AICC under the signature of Tariq Anwar, Member Secretary-DAC, AICC, Sarat Pattanayak, President, Odisha PCC had complained that Mohd. Moquim, MLA and Chiranjib Biswal, Ex-MLA are indulging in anti-party activities which are against the interests of the party.
“The matter was referred to the DAC. The DAC issued notices to both of them asking for their explanations. The replies received from them were carefully considered by the DAC and found them unsatisfactory.
Accordingly, the DAC has decided to place both of them under suspension from the party with immediate effect,” the official press release stated.
This action comes ahead of the 2024 polls. So, this may affect the party’s mission to win 90 MLA seats from the 9 seats it had won in 2019.
“We accept and welcome the decision of the party high command,” said OPCC president Pattanayak.
