Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon reached Kerala on June 5.
According to the latest information provided by IMD, the southwest monsoon has advanced over the entire south Arabian Sea, some parts of the central Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep, Kerala, parts of coastal and south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and some parts of Bay of Bengal. And it is likely to reach Odisha by June 10.
Meanwhile, IMD has issued a yellow warning to Rayagada, Nabarangpur and Koraput districts. These districts are expected to receive heavy rainfall activity.
The arrival of monsoon will give much-needed push to agricultural activities which have taken a hit due to scanty rainfall in the state.
