Bhubaneswar: The Raja Festival celebrations in Odisha are likely to be affected due to the impending monsoon rain. According to the Meteorological Department, a change in weather patterns will bring widespread rain to the state, with many districts expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.
A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over North Odisha and Jharkhand by June 18, which may intensify the monsoon rains. The rain is expected to continue for the next 7 days, bringing relief from the scorching heat and humidity.
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for light to moderate rainfall in some parts of the state, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in districts such as Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
The temperature is expected to drop by 2-3 degrees, and the state will experience cloudy weather with rain at some places and heavy rainfall at many places till June 20. The Regional Meteorological Center has estimated that heavy rainfall is likely in various districts of the state for the next three days, from June 18 to 20.
The impending rain is expected to bring an end to the heatwave, but it may dampen the festivities of the Raja Festival.
