Moral Turpitude: State Commission of Women Closes Indulata Case

**Bhubaneswar: **The State Commission of Women (SCW) on Sunday asked Indulata Das, wife senior IAS officer Taradutt Patnaik, to close the moral turpitude case she had levelled against her husband.

According to reports, the SCW issued the notice as the duo didn’t take step to revive their fractured relationship.

“They (SCW) didn’t do any investigation and delayed two years for the Taradatt’s retirement. I had issued an ultimatum on June 10 and said I will stage protest if the probe wouldn’t proceed further. And, after receiving the letter, they closed the case. I think, out of fear, they took this decision. Now, I will approach the Human Rights Commission for justice,” Indulata Das said in her reaction to the recent development.

She also alleged that the SCW is working under the pressure of some senior IAS officer including Taradatt. This has become a maila (dirty) commission.

“The complaint was probed in all the reasonable ways and sincere efforts were made to reconciliation. However, in spite of its best efforts, the Commission has found out that no amicable resolution of the issue could be reached between you and your husband. The Commission hereby closes your case by observing that there is no appropriateness in furthering the case,” the letter to Indulata Das read.

It may be noted the Indulata has moved the women’s commission in December 2014 and brought allegations of “moral turpitude” against his husband Taradatt.

Notably, the senior Odisha cadre IAS Taradatt attained superannuation on June 30.
