Bhubaneswar: Odisha continues to get Rs 10,000 crore in railway funds for the last last three years during the tenure of Narendra Modi, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said.
Addressing BJP’s felicitation ceremony in Bhubaneswar today, the Minister said the State used to receive only Rs 800 crore railway funds 10 years ago. The railway projects in Odisha was neglected for years. But after Narendra Modi came to power, the State started getting huge funds, he added.
He said, in the financial year 2024-25, Odisha has received Rs 10.536 crore funds. A record 1,846 km of new railway line has been built in Odisha. The entire railway network of Sri Lanka is 17,00 kilometres. A railway line of more than that has been built in Odisha in the last 10 years, Vaishnaw said.
During the previous government, the work could not be carried out. Now, BJP formed government. Odisha will create new record in railway network. In the next five years, new projects worth Rs 1 lakh crore will come to Odisha, he announced.
During Rath Yatra, 315 special trains will run in Odisha. Special trains will come to 25 districts. Electronics manufacturing cluster will be set up in the State. Training programmes will be organised semiconductor industry. A discussion has already been held with the chief minister in this regard, he said.
