Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway has filled up 16 Thousand 405 vacant posts in the last Eight years through the Recruitment Drive by Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) and Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC). In the current financial year 2022-23, altogether 4118 candidates were appointed to East Coast Railway through the recruitment drive by RRB and RRC including the ongoing recruitment process.
A total number of 5259 candidates were appointed in East Coast Railway in Level 1 posts during last 8 years and the recruitment process was done by Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC). Apart from Level 1 posts,
11146 candidates got appointments in East Coast Railway in different categories in last 08 years and the recruitment process was conducted by RRB Bhubaneswar and RRB Secunderabad.
All the above posts include more Safety category posts and a few common General posts. These apart, the recruitment process is also in the final stage for filling up 2,858 vacancies in ECoR by RRBs and RRC in various levels including maximum numbers in Safety categories.
Despite the challenges of the Covid-19 epidemic, East Coast Railways (ECoR) has increased its employee strength from 45,507 as of 1st April 2019 to 47,331 as on 1st January 2023.
As a result, the percentage of vacancies to total sanctioned staff strength in ECoR has been reduced from 17.3% as on 1st April 2019 to 14.9% as on 1st January 2023; whereas the National Benchmark of percentage of vacancies to total sanctioned staff strength in Indian Railways is 21.2% as on 1st January, 2023. This indicates that the vacancies are being filled up on regular basis in East Coast Railway.
Safety is the topmost priority in Railways. As this is a sensitive matter, many departments are involved in this. The railway is aware of the sensitive matter regarding Safety in train operations. East Coast Railway consistently monitoring its workforce and taking necessary steps for filling up of vacant posts.
