Bhubaneswar: More than two lakh posts are lying vacant in different Government departments of Odisha. To the question posed by Khandapada MLA Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari said, “Till December 2021, total of 2,26,559 Government posts are lying vacant in Odisha.”
Patnaik sought an answer on the financial burden caused to the State exchequer because of re-appointment of retirees and two year extension of employees who have superannuated from service, instead of appointing educated jobless youths.
Pujari replied to the question by saying, “The Finance Department has no information on the financial burden caused due to this factor.” The BJD MLA also questioned about abolition of posts following the reforms.
Pujari replied, In the post-financial and administrative reforms period, during 1999 to 2008, total of 45,513 Government posts have been abolished.
To another question by Patnaik, the Finance Minister said, “The respective Departments can provide information on the number of contractual and re-employments post-retirement.”
