Bargarh: Mortal remains of Assam Rifles jawan Nilanchal Patel was consigned to flames at his native village Baghapali under Bheden Block of Bargarh district on Monday.
Patel’s body on arrival in Bargarh was first taken to the District Magistrate’s office here where officials offered floral tributes to the departed soul.
Thousands took part in the funeral procession to bid adieu to the deceased jawan.
Forty-eight-year-old Patel was killed on duty after a patrolling van he was travelling in met with an accident in Manipur on Friday night.
