Bhubaneswar: Minister of State for Home Department, Tusharkanti Behera on Monday shared details on heinous crimes over the last 5 years in Odisha.
The Minister’s response came following a question raised by BJP MLA Lalitendu Bidyadhar Mahapatra over crime rate during 2018 to 2022.
As per the Minister’s reply, in 2018, total 1,378 murder cases were registered out of which chargesheet has been filed in 645 cases.
Similarly, out of 2,502 rape cases filed in 2018, chargesheet has been filed in 1,526 cases.
In 2022, total 1,379 murder cases were filed out of which chargesheet was filed in 640 cases. Meanwhile, chargesheet has been filed in 2,237 cases of rape out of a total 3,184 registered in 2022.
