Cyber Fraud Case

Bhubaneswar: The CID, Crime Branch of Odisha Police arrested two individuals including a woman from Ghaziabad, on Saturday.

The arrested duo, a mother and son, have been identified as Neelam Aggarwal and Vansh Aggarwal.

According to an official press release, the Cyber Crime Unit Team led by Inspector Anila Anand, arrested the pair for their involvement in a cyber fraud case filed at the CID CB Cyber Police Station.

The accused were part of a larger network of fraudsters operating under the guise of a gaming platform.

The case began on May 22, 2024, when a senior citizen from Bhubaneswar received fraudulent calls claiming his Aadhaar was being used for money laundering.

The callers threatened him with imprisonment and convinced him to transfer Rs 1.37 crore to their accounts. This led to an investigation into the cyber fraud.

Additionally, a check through the NCRP portal revealed that the duo is linked to over 15 similar cases in different states across the country.
