Keonjhar: A tragic incident, three people, a woman and her minor children, drowned while bating in a village pond in Panupshi village under Ghatgaon police limits in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Wednesday.
The deceased include Prafulla Mahakud’s wife Kamini Mahakud, her son Om Prakash Mahakud (7) and Sunita Mahakud (5).
According to reports, Kamini took her two children to a pond near her house for bathing. While Kamini was cleaning clothes, she saw the son and daughter drown in the deep water of the pond. She rushed to rescue the two children but also drowned in the pond.
Hearing the news, villagers reached the spot and tried to rescue the mother and her children from the pond. The three were rushed to Ghatgaon Community Health Center (CHC), where the doctor declared them ‘brought dead’.
