Bhubaneswar: Member of Parliament (MP) Aparajita Sarangi has requested Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to provide around 5 acres of land and Rs 5 crore infrastructure support for setting up India Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) here in the State’s capital city.
“I would request you to kindly issue appropriate instructions for identification of around 5 acres land in Bhubaneswar and infrastructure support of Rs 5 crores for expediting the whole process,” mentioned the Bhubaneswar MP in her letter.
Her letter states, “This is in connection with my recent meeting with Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Commerce & industry Minister, on dated 3rd July 2019. I took this opportunity to request him for setting up an Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) at Bhubaneswar. As you are aware, IIFT has established itself as a prestigious institution in the areas of foreign trade, export & import and trade related laws.”
The Bhubaneswar MP has further stated in her letter, “The presence of an Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) in Bhubaneswar is bound to give fillip to export initiatives from the state and is also likely to open up additional employment opportunities for young students from Odisha. There are many State Governments who have offered land free of cost and infrastructure support grant for ensuring the establishment of a premier academic institute like Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) in their respective states.”
