Bhubaneswar: BJD Rajya Sabha MP Munna Khan landed in trouble after a police complaint was registered against him for his inappropriate interpretation of the popular devotional song ‘Ahe Daya May Bishwa Bihari’ and his derogatory remarks against its author Ramakrushna Nanda.
The complaint was filed by the Ramakrushna Nanda Smriti Parishad at Oltpur police station in Cuttack district.
Earlier, at a press conference in Oltpur, the founder of the Parishad and grandson of Ramakrushna Nanda, Prakash Nanda, said that MP Munna Khan had insulted the poet during Mandei festival in Nabarangpur on December 6.
He also made an inappropriate interpretation of the prayer ‘Ah Daya May Bishwa Bihari’ composed by Ramakrushna Nanda. This has deeply hurt Ramakrushna Nanda’s family and prayer lovers, said Nanda.
After the complaint was filed at the police station, the MP apologized. However, Ramakrishna Nanda Smriti Parishad has demanded action against him and cancellation of his MP post.
Khan apologized for the incident, stating, “I was narrating a tale of my childhood when I was not aware about the real meaning of the devotional song. I have respect for the writer and his family. I have never insulted any great person in my life. I expressed sorrow for such an unintentional mistake. I hope the family members of the writer understood and will refrain from exaggerating things.”
