Bhubaneswar: While the State reels under intense heatwave conditions, the Met Department came up with some good news. With moisture laden winds entering the State from Sunday onwards, making the conditions favourable for nor’westers (kal-baisakhi).
Most of the places across Odisha experienced, 40 to 45 degrees Celcius temperatue over the past two weeks, making conditions unbearable. However, the IMD today stated that cyclonic moisture-laden winds are entering the State from south and south-east directions.
“Once these winds come in contact with the intensely heated atmosphere over the land, the process of formation of the Kal Baisakhis begins. This system would trigger lightning, thunderstorms and winds at 40 to 50 kmph speed. Warnings have been issued to the districts concerned,” an IMD official said.
