Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government’s “Mukhya Mantri Bayu Swasthya Seva” scheme recently conducted a successful medical camp in Malkangiri district, treating 1,398 patients between August 18 and 21. A team of seven super-specialist doctors from SCB Medical College and Hospital visited the District Headquarters Hospital, providing specialised care to patients in need.

The medical team, comprising experts in various fields, treated patients in cardiology (260), neurology (415), gastroenterology (263), endocrinology (229), and nephrology (231). Additionally, 130 patients underwent ECG, 59 patients underwent endoscopy, and 6 patients underwent laparoscopy.

The team included specialists such as Dr. Jyotirmay Nayak (Surgery), Dr. Avhans Tank (Cardiology), Dr. Dhiraj Kumar Lenka (Nephrology), Dr. Sanghamitra Sahu (Neurology), Dr. Sitakant Panda (Endocrinology), Dr. Rakesh Mohanty (Gastroenterology), and Dr. Raj Kumar Mahapatra (Anesthesiology).

Patients expressed gratitude for receiving quality medical care from specialist doctors at the district hospital, which is often a challenge in remote areas. District Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay thanked the Chief Minister for providing medical care to over a thousand patients through this scheme. CDMO Dr. Dolamani Pradhan and other physicians were also present during the medical camp.

The Mukhya Mantri Bayu Swasthya Seva scheme, launched by Odisha government aims to provide quality healthcare services to people in remote districts, leveraging air transport to reach specialist doctors to district headquarters hospitals. The scheme covers patients from economically weaker sections and offers free treatment, bridging critical gaps in specialist healthcare access.
