Bhubaneswar: A team of doctors left for Nabarangpur district today to serve patients in the district. The doctors’ team was dispatched under the aegis of the Mukhya Mantri Bayu Swasthya Seba scheme.
They would treat the patients needing speciality and critical care. About 800 patients are expected to be treated at Nabarangpur during this visit, Secretary, Health and Family Welfare department, Shalini Pandit said.
The Vayu Swasthya Seva or Air Health Services was launched by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in December 2021. Under the scheme, specialist doctors will be flown to remote areas of the state to treat patients admitted into their respective district headquarter hospitals.
All the services under this scheme are free of cost and if required, critical patients will be airlifted to Bhubaneswar and Cuttack for advanced treatment. The service has been designed for the people of four districts of Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Nuapada in the first phase.
Neurologists, nephrologists, cardiologists from medical colleges and corporate hospitals, mainly in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, are flown to the four district headquarters hospitals, where diagnostic facilities and operation theatres, have been created keeping in mind the specialized care.
