Nabarangpur: Mukhyamantri Vayu Swasthya Seva (Air Health Services) was started in the Nabarangpur district of Odisha today. A five-member team of select super specialists from Bhubaneswar arrived in a helicopter at Nabarangpur.
The team of doctors upon arrival is treating a batch of pre-registered patients at the district headquarters hospital here.
The team of doctors comprises Dr Datteswar Hota of Urology department, Dr Chittaranjan Panda of Gastroenterology department, Dr Biswajit of Cardiology department, Dr Banabihari Mishra and Dr Khageswar Rout.
Sources said the team will be conducting surgery on five patients apart from treating other patients.
A total of 218 patients from the district have registered for availing of treatment.
The team is scheduled to return to Bhubaneswar at 2 PM tomorrow.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had in December last year launched Mukhyamantri Vayu Swasthya Seva at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here to take health services to people of remote and backward areas of the State.
The service has been designed for the people of four districts of Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Nuapada in the first phase.
Neurologists, nephrologists, cardiologists from medical colleges and corporate hospitals, mainly in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, are flown to the four district headquarters hospitals, where diagnostic facilities and operation theatres, have been created keeping in mind the specialized care.
