Ganjam/Angul: An executive officer of Phulbani Municipality, a cop in Angul and a junior clerk in Bolangir were all under the scanner of Odisha Vigilance on Friday.
In Phulbani, the anti-corruption wing raided the office and residences of Phulbani Municipality Executive Officer (EO) Radhamohan Behera on charges of acquiring property disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Raids were conducted simultaneously at five places, including his office, Government quarters at Phulbani, house at Berhampur and in-law’s house at Turugudi.
As per reports, the officials seized around Rs 17,000 cash, gold and important documents. Vigilance DSP Surendranath Panigrahi has said that total amount of wealth amassed can be ascertained only after the raid is completed.
In Angul, a cop of Thakurgarh police station named Gajendra Behera was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 bribe. Reportedly, Behera was demanding the money to settle a dispute case.
In Bolangir’s Divisional Forest Office, a junior clerk named Kalindi Charan Bhuyan was arrested for demanding bribe of Rs 10,000. He was demanding the money from one Parshuram Behera, who was trying to obtain permission for cutting a tree.
