Balasore: A murder accused threw drunken tantrums at a police team which arrived at his hideout for arrest on Friday. The incident has been reported from Jamudisahi village under Nilagiri police limits.
According to reports, the accused in this case, Padmalochan Patra had dishonoured court summons served in connection with his alleged involvement in a murder case.
On Friday, a team of Nilagiri police comprising ASIs Ananta Murmu and Prabodh Mallik and two constables – led by Sub Inspector Biranchi Sahu, showed up at Jamudisahi to arrest Patra.
However, the accused was found in an inebriated state, wielding a sharp weapon. As the cops approached Patra to escort him out of the house, he started swaying the machete dangerously.
Subsequently, after an altercation lasting a few minutes, he was overpowered by the police. One of the cops received minor bruises in the process. Patra has been arrested and will be produced in court on Saturday.
The police personnel was discharged from Nilagiri Sub-Divisional Hospital after first-aid, the police said. Nilagiri police have registered a separate case in this connection.
Sources said Patra has similar antecedents. In 2021, he was arrested for attacking police personnel.
