Bhubaneswar: The murder convict who had allegedly escaped from the premises of Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre in Cuttack on Friday was nabbed near Tankapani road in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
The accused identified as Muku Santa (50) of Koraput was lodged at Chowdwar Jail and being brought regularly to the Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre for treatment of his throat cancer.
He was discharged from the hospital on Thursday and the jail staff escorting him decided to return to the jail on Friday after completing the paperwork. On Friday morning, when the jail staff had gone to attend nature’s call, Santa escaped from the cancer centre.
