Bhubaneswar: The body of a woman, who had gone missing for the past two days, was recovered from Susabhanali village under Jharabada panchayat in the Pallahara police station area of Angul district on Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Jan Munda, a resident of Susabhanali village.
According to reports, Munda had gone to work on Monday but failed to return home. Despite extensive searches by her family members, her whereabouts were unknown until her blood-stained body was found on Wednesday.
She was allegedly stoned to death, with her throat slit. Upon being informed, Pallahara police rushed to the spot and seized the body for post-mortem examination.
Police have, meanwhile, launched an investigation to determine the motive or identify the perpetrators.
A preliminary examination showed the victim had multiple severe injuries, including deep neck cuts and serious facial injuries, indicating foul play and a brutal killing.
