**Bhubaneswar**: Even as the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) decided to stage strike in four districts over Mahanadi water dispute, the Chhattisgarh Water Resources Minister said the issue can only be solved through mutual discussion.
Writing a letter to BJD MP Bhartruhari Mahtab, Chhattisgarh Water Resources Minister Sanjiv Baliyan said the Negotiation Committee formed to sort out the issue is exploring the options.
In the letter, Baliyan further stated that earlier a Negotiation Committee was formed for amicable settlement of the Mahanadi dispute. However, Odisha had skipped the meeting that was convened on February 28 in this regard.
Reacting to Baliyan’s letter, Mahtab said that the Odisha Government has already urged the Centre to cancel the constitution of Negotiation Committee and is demanding for formation of a Tribunal.
