Bhubaneswar. Mystery shrouds the death of a retired Army man whose body was recovered from a locked house in the Nayapalli area in Bhubaneswar on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Anil Chhotray, a native of Narendrapur area in Banapur of Odisha’s Khurdha district.
The police recovered Anil’s body and sent it to Capital Hospital for postmortem on Thursday. They reportedly informed the family of the deceased much later.
While the reason behind Anil’s death is yet to be ascertained, his family alleged that he was murdered. They have demanded an impartial probe into his death.
The deceased’s brother, Sunil Chhotray, told the media, “How can the police take away my brother’s body without the presence of any member of our family? The police called me much later saying that my brother was dead for three days. The body has been sent for postmortem and I was told to receive the body in the morning. I want justice for my brother and answers to our questions. We want this to be investigated properly.”
Sunil futher said, “I called my brother several times over phone but my calls were unanswered. I even called his house owner but they too did not respond. After this, I had sent a relative to meet my brother but was told that the house is locked from outside. If the door was locked from outside, how could he commit suicide? My sister-in-law, her relatives and a few others have killed him,” he alleged.
