Paradip: Mystery shrouds the death of a labourer whose body was recovered from a foreign vessel MV Ulusoi in the restricted area of Paradip port on Tuesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Bibhuti Barik, a resident of Badamba area in Odisha’s Cuttack.
According to reports, Bibhuti was working in the cargo ship from Istanbul as a loader and had gone to the hatch of the ship on Sunday night. His body was recovered 30 hours later on Tuesday morning.
While the exact circumstances that led to his death are yet to be ascertained, it is speculated that the labourer may have died due to suffocation inside the hatch of the ship.
The police have sent the body for autopsy and launched an investigation into the incident.
