Bhubaneswar: The police have recovered the body of a 27-yr-old lady doctor from a rented house at Sailashree Vihar of Bhubaneswar. She was working as a junior doctor in the Cardiology Department of a renowned private hospital here.

The deceased has been identified as Manaswini Barik originally hailing from Berchamunda village of Bargarh district in Odisha. Her father rushed to the capital city after being informed about his daughter's death.

Talking to the media persons, his father Suryamani Barik raised questioned over the death of his daughter. He said, “My daughter was supposed to come to home for the Nuakhai celebrations yesterday. When she did not turn up, we called her. As she did not take up our calls, we got perturbed and contacted her friends. They reached the rented house of Manaswini at 8 pm but it was too late. I was informed at midnight that she was no more. I cannot believe that she committed suicide. There is some mystery behind her death.”

Manaswini was married in 2015 but got divorced in last November, as per her father. She was living with her brother in the rented house in Bhubaneswar but was alone at the time of the incident.

P.K Bhol, one of the relatives of the deceased doctor informed, “Manaswini was a very headstrong girl. I was informed last night that she committed suicide. She withstood her divorce after a tumultuous marriage last year, but did not break down inspite of so much emotional trauma. So it is very difficult to digest that she committed suicide. Last week, I had a talk with her and she did not have any pressure as such, as she was living life on her own terms. She was employed and was quite active on her social media.”

The body of the deceased doctor has been taken to Capital Hospital for autopsy. They have started their investigation into the incident.
