Paradip: A suspicious young man climbed a fishing trawler from Odisha in the middle of the sea on Thursday giving rise to apprehensions about intrusions by unknown people.
According to reports, an unidentified young man came up on a fishing boat in the deep sea off the coast of Paradip in Odisha. The incident occurred 71 nautical miles away from the mouth of Asia’s largest brackish water Chilika Lake.
Till the time of filing this report, it could not be ascertained whether the youth was a victim of a boat capsize in the sea or an intruder. While an ATM card was recovered from the possession of the unidentified youth, no details could be obtained about his arrival on the fishing trawler as the stranger spoke in broken Odia and Telegu. However, he did not reveal much information to the fishermen.
When asked about his details, the stranger said that he was from Jharkhand and worked as a menial labourer. ‘I slipped into the sea and after swimming for three to four hours I found the fishing boat and climbed on it,” he said.
Shocked over the development, the fishermen in the sea contacted the Marine Police and brought him to the Nehru Bangla fishing port on Friday. They handed him over to the police and is being interrogated by the police and Coast Guard.
It is worth mentioning here that a few months ago a parrot with a chip tied to its leg flew in the middle of the sea and was sitting on a fishing boat.
