Jharsuguda: The Odisha Crime Branch on Tuesday again produced ASI Gopal Krushna Das, the accused in the Odisha Health Minister Naba Kisore Das murder case, in the Jharsuguda JMFC court to record his statement under Section 164 CrPC.
After the end of Gopal Das’ third phase of police remand on Monday, he was produced in the JMFC court. The Crime Branch had then filed an application to record the accused’s statement under Section 164 CrPC. The court had scheduled Tuesday for the hearing.
Meanwhile, the Jharsuguda Sub-Jail authorities had prayed to the court to shift Gopal Das to another prison keeping in view the security and safety of the prisoner. According to advocate Harisankar Agarwal, the court has granted permission to shift his client to another prison in the state.
Now, the IG (Prison) has decided that Gopal Das would be lodged in Chaudwar Jail in Cuttack district. As per the latest report, the accused has been taken to Chaudwar Jail under special security arrangements.
Meanwhile, Jharsuguda prison sources revealed that the accused was given roti and fries for dinner in Jharsuguda Sub-Jail for dinner on Monday and he had upma and ghuguni for breakfast on Tuesday morning.
It is worth mentioning here that Gopal Das had shot Health Minister Naba Das from close range when the latter had come to his home constituency in Jharsuguda on January 29. The minister succumbed to his bullet injuries at Apollo Hospitals Bhubaneswar on the same evening.
