Bhubaneswar: Dismissed Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of police Gopal Krishna Das, the sole accused (so far) in former Health Minister Naba Das murder underwent first round of polygraph test today at the State Forensic Science Laboratory, Directorate of Forensic Science Services (DFSS), Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
According to an official press release issued today by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Crime Branch (CB) investigating the high profile murder case, “First round of Polygraph test of accused was held at SFSL, DFSS Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat as per the orders of the Hon’ble JMFC-I (cognizance taking), Brajarajanagar”.
It will continue tomorrow, the release added.
Narco test will also be conducted tomorrow after detailed medical examination of the accused, the CB has stated.
An eight-member team led by the Investigation Officer (IO) DSP Ramesh Chandra Dora is camping at Gandhinagar for the above tests.
The Forensic Psychological Assessment and Layered Voice Analysis (LVA) Test of accused Gopal have been completed by a team of Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), New Delhi at Jharsuguda on February 6 (Monday), the CB said.
The special Medical Board consisting of Psychiatry doctors has conducted a detail study of the mental health of accused at Jharsuguda. The report is awaited, the CB added.
The CB has informed that experts from SFSL, Gandhinagar, Gujarat and the CB team recreated the Crime Scene on Tuesday. The team also analyzed the physical clues obtained/collected during investigation of the case.
The financial transaction of the accused and his family matters are being verified and analyzed by a team of CB, the release said.
The documents and evidences collected by various teams are being scrutinized and analyzed to ascertain the motive of the murder, the release added.
The detailed service verification of the accused is also being carried out by a team of CB, headed by a DSP.
Further, ADGP, CID Crime Branch Arun Bothra is camping at Gandhinagar to personally monitor and supervise the investigation of the case.
The CB has said that investigation of the case is continuing.
Notably, the Crime Branch has brought accused Gopal Das on a further remand of five days with effect from Wednesday (Feb 8) for continued interrogation.
Former Minister Naba Das was murdered in broad daylight on January 29, when he was in Brajarajnagar’s Gandhi Chowk to attend a party programme. He was allegedly shot at from point blank range by Gopal Krishna who was on traffic control duty.
The Minister was initially rushed to the district headquarters hospital here and was airlifted from Jharsuguda in a critical condition.
He succumbed to his injuries in the evening on the same day at Apollo Hospitals in Bhubaneswar while undergoing treatment. The bullet fired by Gopal Krishna had pierced through the heart and lung of the Minister and exited.
