Jharsuguda: A team of experts from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, arrived in Jharsuguda on Tuesday to examine the mental health of ASI Gopal Krushna Das, who shot at Odisha Health Minister Naba Kisore Das here on January 29. The experts from NIMHANS are examining Gopal Das on the premises of the Odisha State Armed Police (OSAP) 2nd Battalion here.
Soon after the crime, the accused wife Jayanti Das told the media that Gopal Das was suffering from bipolar disorder and was undergoing treatment for the condition. The NIMHANS team will examine Gopal Das in this connection.
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch, which has been entrusted with the probe into the Naba Kisore Das murder case, interrogated Gopal Das for the third day in the second phase on Tuesday. While the Crime Branch is yet to recreate the crime scene, the police remand of Gopal Das will end on Wednesday. According to sources, the crime scene is likely to be recreated after the NIMHANS experts examine Gopal Das’ mental condition.
On the other hand, Vishal Das, son of Naba Kisore Das, is scheduled to return to Jharsuguda on Wednesday after immersing the ashes of his father in Prayagraj.
