Jharsuguda: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik attended the Shradhanjali Sabha (memorial service) of slain Health Minister Naba Das at his residence here on Thursday and offered floral tributes to the departed leader.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian, while several other Cabinet Ministers and prominent BJD leaders attended the event.
Soon after arriving at Jharsuguda, Naveen met Naba Das’ family members and proceeded to the Shradhanjali Sabha venue where he had a brief interaction with his former colleague’s daughter Deepali and son Vishal.
Earlier, Deepali became emotional recollecting memories with her father while speaking at the memorial service. “My father used to say the truth always triumphs. He always wanted the development of Jharsuguda. He taught us to keep our heads up,” she said in a choked voice.
The district administration and the BJD made extensive arrangements for the Chief Minister’s visit for the memorial programme. Security arrangements were tightened at the venue with 13 platoons of police deployed there.
