Nabarangpur: A youth sustained severe burn injuries after he came in contact with a live wire while dousing fire at Santoshi Nagar under Umerkote block in Nabarangpur district.

The injured youth has been identified as Dipak Sagadia of Chadehiguda Sahi.

According to sources, a fire engulfed the house of Sushant Mandal, a resident due to a short circuit. As there was no one in Sushant’s house, Dipak, who lived as a tenant, climbed up to the house to douse the fire. Unfortunately, he came in contact with live wire and received severe burns.

Upon being informed, Energy Department officials rushed to the spot and disconnected the electricity connection to Sushant’s house to rescue Dipak.  He has received 70 per cent burns and is currently undergoing Umerkote Community Health Centre.
