Keonjhar: Manika Nayak, a 17-year-old national level kho kho player, was found hanging in her residence in Nayadhanurjayapur under the Baria police station limit in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Friday.
According to reports, Manika’s family members found her hanging from the ceiling of her room yesterday morning. They rushed Manika to the Jhumpura hospital but doctors attending her declared the girl brought dead. The reason why she took such an extreme step is still unknown.
The Baria police are investigating the incident and have lodged a case (No. 6/2023) in this connection.
Manika was a Plus II student of Ukhunda College and a promising kho kho player. She was part of the national junior women’s kho kho team and represented Odisha in the national junior tournament in Jharkhand. She played a major role in making her team victorious.
