Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced the inclusion of 33 lakh additional farming families as beneficiaries under the KALIA scheme.
Currently, 42 lakh farming families of Odisha were enrolled under KALIA. Naveen, during the election campaign had promised to increase the number of beneficiaries immediately after the new BJD Government is formed.
“As per our commitment to farmers, today in our first Cabinet meeting, the target of KALIA beneficiaries has been increased to 75 lakh farm families,” the Chief Minister said.
The fund release starts with effect from Wednesday (May 29, 2019) and about 25 lakh additional families will be assisted in a weeks time, Naveen added.
Women empowerment has been a key to the success of Naveen-led BJD Government. In his very first Cabinet meeting today, the Odisha CM approved procurement and services worth Rs 1,000 crore in favour of the Women Self Help Groups (SHGs) through Mission Shakti.
“40 different types activities such as paddy procurement, uniforms for children, hospital diet and mosquito nets, midday meals will be part of this in the first phase,” the Chief Minister said.
“With these two resolutions the promise I had made about KALIA and Mission Shakti to be implemented on the day we assume office, is honoured,” Naveen added.
