Bhubaneswar: In a major organisational overhaul, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday announced a new team of state-level office-bearers for the party. The move comes in the wake of BJD’s electoral defeat in the 2024 Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Odisha.
The newly announced team includes 71 members. Patnaik has appointed seven senior vice presidents, eight vice presidents, 20 senior general secretaries, 31 general secretaries, and one treasurer.
Soon after the party’s poll setback last year, Patnaik had dissolved all party committees. The latest appointments signal the veteran leader’s effort to revitalise the party and strengthen its position as the main Opposition force in the state.
