Bhubaneswar: BJD supremo and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday, broke his silence on Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahatab’s resentment and advised him not to speak about party affairs to the media.

Speaking to the reporters, Patnaik said, “If the senior leaders have anything negative to say, they should come to me with their complaints and not go to the media.”

Patnaik’s statement came in response to parliamentary party chief of BJD in Lok Sabha Bhartruhari Mahtab’s article published in an Odia daily, where he not only criticised the party leadership, but also slammed the party spokespersons for ‘misinterpreting’ his earlier articles.

Mahatab mentioned senior party leaders like Damodar Rout and Surya Narayan Patro and said that they are misinterpreting his article.

” Some talkative BJD leaders disliked my earlier articles. Surya Patro asked that how I won election from Cuttack four-five times if there are cracks in party. Similarly, Dr Damodar Rout said that I am not aware about BJD as I stay in Delhi. I’m not writing this piece for them. The objective is to clarify things as some TV channels are trying to amplify the issue,” Mahatab mentioned in the column.

He also said that BJP’s rise in panchayat polls was a result of failure of Congress as the opposition party.
