Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik knew about the presidential candidate of the BJP-led NDA government ahead of the announcement of Draupadi Murmu’s name, as suggested by a tweet from the former on Tuesday.
After BJP chief J.P. Nadda announced the name of Draupadi Murmu as the presidential candidate, Patnaik congratulated her through a tweet and stated that he was delighted when Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed it with him.
The Chief Minister also stated that it is indeed a proud moment for the people of Odisha. “I am sure Smt Murmu will set a shining example for women empowerment in the country.” he added.
Soon after the announcement of her name as the presidential candidate, the Centre accorded a Z+ security cover of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) commandos to Murmu.
