Naveen Launches BSKY Smart Health Card In Nuapada District

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the distribution of Smart Health Cards under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) in Nuapada district today.

Around 1.73 lakh people of the district will benefit. Ten districts including Nuapada have been covered under the programme, said an official press release.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated various projects of around Rs 480 crore.

Speaking on the occasion, Patnaik said that potable drinking water is a big issue of Nuapada.

He said that work is underway to solve the problem by providing piped drinking water in all blocks, all villages and every neighbourhood.

The Chief Minister inaugurated two mega piped water projects for Nuapada and Komna. This will provide potable drinking water to 80% of the district’s population, he added.

During the programme following Khariar MLA’s request, the Chief Minister announced to include Evangelical Hospital of Khariar under BSKY.

As a result, people of the district will be able to avail themselves of treatment in this hospital using the Smart Health Card.

Patnaik informed that 3.5 crore people of 96 lakh families will benefit through the Smart Health Card.

This will free our poor people from several problems pertaining to healthcare, especially financial problems, he added.

The Chief Minister said that it gives him too much pain when people are forced to sell their lands, stop their children’s education, etc to meet medical expenses when someone is ill.

Now people can avail hassle-free good treatment in 200 big hospitals of the country by using this Smart Health Card by not spending a single rupee, he added.

The Chief Minister said that every life is precious for him be it that of a farmer, or a labourer or a rickshaw puller-all should live with dignity. This is the aim of his various welfare programmes, he added.

Reiterating that every life is precious for him, the Chief Minister said that Odisha is the only State in the country where all expenses from testing to treatment of Corona patients was borne by the State government.

The Chief Minister praised the farmers of Nuapada for cultivating different varieties of crops giving emphasis on organic manure and pesticides.

He urged the farmers to take advantage of the various welfare schemes of the State government and prosper.

Health & Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das, School & Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash, Nuapada MLA Rajendra Dholakia, and Khariar MLA Adhiraj Panigrahi participated in the programme.
