Bhubaneswar: Even though BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed his deep condolences on the demise of former BJD strategist Pyarimohan Mohapatra, nowhere in his message has he mentioned about Mohapatra’s contributions to the ruling party.

In the State Assembly on Monday, the CM said, “I am distressed at the passing away of former Rajya Sabha MP Pyarimohan Mohapatra. He had a distinguished career as a civil servant and was known for his hard work and caliber. Later, he joined politics and became an MP. In politics too, he had proved his mettle. Through his organizational skills and political acumen, he had created a niche for himself in Odisha politics."

"My deep sympathies are with his bereaved members of the family. May his soul rest in peace,” he added.

Besides the CM, Odisha Governor Dr SC Jamir, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram, BJD Lok Sabha Member Baijayant Panda, Leader of the Opposition Narsingh Mishra, State BJP president Basant Panda, BJP legislature party leader KV Singhdeo and Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Prasad Harichandan also expressed grief on the ex-parliamentarian’s death.
