Naveen Patnaik Keeps Promise, Fields 3 Woman LS Candidates For Odisha’s First Two Poll Phases

**Bhubaneswar: ** As BJD supremo and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has been championing for the 33% reservation for women and has also made it loud and clear at Kendrapara Mission Shakti convention this month that Odisha will send seven woman MPs to Lok Sabha this time, he today announced the names of three woman candidates for the first two poll phases in the State.

The three BJD woman candidates in the fray, as per the announcement today, are Pramila Bisoi for Aska Lok Sabha seat, Koushalya Hikaka for Koraput Lok Sabha seat and Sunita Biswal for the Sundargarh Lok Sabha seat.

Notably, Aska Lok Sabha seat’s BJD candidate Pramila Bisoi is of Satsang SHG of Nalabanta. Making this announcement, Naveen Patnaik in his reactions said, “It is my honour to pay tribute to the 70 lakh women Mission Shakti movement in the State. Therefore, I’ve given the Aska parliamentary seat to Smt Pramila Bisoi, a prominent Mission Shakti worker.”

Similarly, the two Scheduled Tribe (ST) reserved Lok Sabha seats of Koraput and Sundargarh are also having woman candidates.

While Koraput Lok Sabha seat’s BJD candidate Koushalya Hikaka is wife of sitting party MP Jhina Hikaka, Sundargarh Lok Sabha seat’s BJD candidate Sunita Biswal is the daughter of former Odisha Chief Minister Hemanand Biswal.

Hemananda was also Congress MP from Sundargarh parliamentary seat after winning the 2009 general elections, but had lost in 2014 to BJP.
